Over the years, Putnam Hitch Products has earned a reputation for bringing innovative products to market. Here are just some of those innovations:

1997
Putnam Hitch Products went to market with their first fifth wheel hitch, a revolutionary gooseneck/fifth wheel combination hitch called Firehawk. The Firehawk (and the redesigned Firehawk II) provide the owner of multiple trailers such as an RV trailer and a utility trailer the ability to rely on the Firehawk’s flexibility to handle each type of trailer with ease.

1997

Introduced their class V XDR – Xtra Duty Receiver. With a weight carrying rating of 10,000, it was a market leader. In 2003, Putnam Hitch Products upgraded the XDR to an industry leading 15,000 pounds weight carrying and 16,000 pounds weight distribution. No other hitch company offers the heavy-duty puller a 2” receiver hitch capable of handling this heavy a load. To compliment the XDR, Putnam Hitch Products offers a complete line of XDR rated accessories including the industry’s only 15,000 hitchball.

1999

Introduced the industry to a chemically grafted protective coating on every product we manufacture. Ordinary finishes when scratched or chipped, allow corrosion to migrate which causes the paint to blister and flake off. Not Polyshield™! Polyshield™ was developed to withstand the most extreme conditions associated with towing hardware. Polyshield™ is a Putnam Hitch Products exclusive!

2000
The year Putnam Hitch Products introduced one of the industry’s first “underbed gooseneck” hitches. The Lock and Load allowed the gooseneck hauler the ability to take back their truck bed. With the pull of the Lock & Load’s handle, the gooseneck ball retracts into its underbed canister, leaving a truck bed able to carry large items without the impediment of a gooseneck ball. In 2005, the Lock & Load is one the leading underbed goosenecks on the market.
